Mission Statement

MISSION:
Gays UN is a national not-for-profit grassroots organization founded to affect change by uniting and empowering our community both in California and nationally through direct actions, such as: sponsoring fundraising, canvassing, public education and letter writing campaigns, online and offline petition drives, protests, rallies and vigils.

OUR VISION:
We envision a united America that is truly equal where LGBT-Americans are liberated from discrimination.

OUR COMMITMENT TO ACTION:
Short-Time:
-Sponsor fundraising events locally and in as many other cities as possible to raise funds for organizations that work on marriage equality initiatives.
-Sponsor canvassing campaign in the State of California in support of our community's goal of repealing Prop 8.

Long-Term:
-Restore integrity to our Constitution and dignity to our Community.

- Initiate and develop new leaders for the movement.

-Represent and serve the entire LGBT family, specifically youth, disabled, seniors and families in our advocacy and public education efforts.

-Hold elected officials in the legislative, judiciary and executive branch of government accountable.

-Build national network of diverse organizations across racial, ethnic, social and economic divides.

An account of the Saddleback Church Protest

We went to Saddleback Church to bring a message from the Courage Campaign to invite Rick Warren to debate with Rev. Eric Lee of SCLC on Same-Sex Marriage and Prop 8.

We had about 20 people show up for the Protest and we stayed until 1:30pm. It was a peaceful protest. The only people who were abusive were the church attendees that gave us the fingers on the way in or out of the services.
